About Us

The Civil Engineering Consulting Group (Civecon Group) was established by Dr. Abdelsalam Salem and Partners Dr. Rami El-Sherbiny and Dr. Manal Salem as a continuation of the Consulting Engineering Office established in 1983 providing 40 years of experience in civil engineering consultancies and a reputation of delivering high quality and cost-effective solutions for clients in public and private sectors. Civecon Group aims to provide a variety of engineering services for construction and geotechnical projects in Egypt and the Middle East. Our experienced staff of highly qualified engineers and technicians ensures providing high quality services.

Dr. Salem is also a prominent Professor Emeritus at Cairo University with extensive structural and geotechnical engineering design and construction experience. Dr. Salem is assisted by partners Dr. Rami El-Sherbiny and Dr. Manal Salem, and a highly professional and dedicated group of engineers with extensive experience in structural and geotechnical engineering.



People

Consulting services performed by Civecon Group are practiced out of our only office in Giza, Egypt, and are led by Dr. Abdelsalam Salem. Dr. Salem is also a prominent Professor Emeritus at Cairo University with extensive structural and geotechnical engineering design and construction experience. Dr. Salem is assisted by partners Dr. Rami El-Sherbiny and Dr. Manal Salem, and a highly professional and dedicated group of engineers with extensive experience in structural and geotechnical engineering.

Dr. Abdelsalam Salem has over 50 years of experience in structural and geotechnical engineering with extensive experience in fields of geotechnical site investigation; and designing shallow and deep foundations, side support systems, dewatering systems, soil reinforcement, soil improvement, concrete structures, and steel structures. Dr. Salem has worked on a variety of engineering projects including large residential and industrial facilities, harbors and offshore structures, highway bridges and flyovers, railways embankments, and infrastructure networks (sewer and water).  He has served as the principal engineer for design and review teams on numerous projects in Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Benin, and the United States. Dr. Salem also has a long academic career with contributions in research and education. Dr. Salem is the Chairman of the Egyptian Geotechnical Society and a distinguished Professor Emeritus at Cairo University. He is a member of the General Committee of the Egyptian National Code of Practice for Geotechnical Engineering and chaired the committees on Earth Retaining Structures, and on Earthworks and Dewatering Systems.

Dr. Rami El-Sherbiny has over 20 years of experience in multiple disciplines of civil engineering with extensive experience in the fields of site investigation, designing shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, deep excavations, slope stabilization, dewatering systems, soil reinforcement, soil improvement, road and railway embankments, tunneling, lining and drainage systems, and solid waste landfills. Dr. El-Sherbiny has worked on a variety of engineering projects including large residential, commercial, and industrial facilities; harbors and offshore structures; highway bridges and flyovers, road and railway embankments, and infrastructure networks. He has served as the principal engineer for design and review teams on numerous projects in Egypt, the Middle-East, and the United States. Dr. El-Sherbiny is the Vice-Chairman of the Egyptian Geosynthetic Society and serves on several code-of-practice committees. He also serves as Chairman of the Department of Public Works, Chair Professor of Geotechnical Engineering & Director of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Laboratory at Cairo University. 

Dr. Manal Salem is a geotechnical engineer with over 20 years of experience during which she worked on a variety of projects involving field and laboratory soil testing, geotechnical site evaluations, design of foundations and retaining structures, stability analyses, settlement analyses, and hydraulic flow analyses on major projects. Dr. Salem has also worked on several geoenvironmental engineering projects involving landfill engineering and solid waste management. Dr. Salem is a member of the earth retaining structures code-of-practice committee and serves as a Professor of geotechnical engineering at Cairo University.
